I’m Richard — a documentary wedding photographer based in Cambridge. I grew up around cameras; my family ran camera shops, and photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Music gave me an early creative outlet, and cameras gave me the rest.
That background shaped how I work today. I’m observant, calm, and focused on capturing what actually happens rather than staging something that didn’t.

Photography has always been part of my life
I didn’t come to wedding photography through a traditional route. I started as a generalist — events, headshots, commercial work, interiors — and over eight years, I’ve covered more than 300 shoots across Cambridge and the surrounding counties. Weddings became a natural fit because the skills that matter most on a wedding day are the same ones I’ve spent years developing: reading a room, staying present, and knowing when to step in and when to disappear.
I’m not the photographer who’ll spend your day rearranging everyone into perfect positions. I work in the background, quietly covering the moments that matter, and step forward when it’s time to organise groups or pull you both aside for portraits. Most couples tell me they forgot I was there for half the day. That’s the goal.

How I work on a wedding day
Every wedding starts with a conversation. I want to know your timeline, your venue, what matters to you and what doesn’t. Some couples want 20 minutes of portraits, others want five. Some want every group combination photographed, others just want the parents. There’s no formula here — I work around your day, not the other way around.
On the day itself, I arrive early and stay as long as you need me. I shoot everything that tells the story — the nerves, the details, the ceremony, the speeches, the dancing, the quiet moments in between. I blend documentary coverage with relaxed, natural portraits. Nothing forced, nothing that takes you away from your guests for longer than it needs to.

Absolute 5 stars all round! Not even sure where to start - Richard was super easy to communicate with, incredibly reliable, very pro-active with information in the run-up to the wedding, very clear about what was included in the package and very accommodating with all requests. On the day he put us all at ease, which you can see in the photos! We only hired Richard for an hour, but he captured the day so beautifully, all our guests were blown away by the photos. Thank you again, Richard, for giving us such amazing memories.

Richard was great! He was very communicative and informative throughout the process, always replied in good time to emails and answered our questions. He photographed our wedding, and the prices were very reasonable and the images wonderfully crisp. He accommodated our 'natural, not Instagram fake' wishes for photos, and took a good amount on the day so we had plenty to choose from for our album. He has a nice, easygoing way no doubt born of experience, so was wonderful to work with and we felt we could tell him what we wanted. Recommended!
